The working principle of the hydrocyclone is centrifugal sedimentation. When the two-phase (or three-phase) mixed liquid to be separated enters the cyclone from the feed port of the cyclone at a certain pressure, a strong three-dimensional elliptical shear turbulent movement is generated. Due to the different densities of the particles, the centrifugal force, centripetal buoyancy, and fluid drag are different in size. Due to the action of centrifugal sedimentation, most of the coarse particles (or heavy phase) are discharged through the bottom outlet of the cyclone, while most of the fine particles ( or light phase) is discharged from the overflow pipe, so as to achieve the purpose of separation and classification.
The hydrocyclone is a classification device that uses centrifugal force to accelerate the sedimentation of ore particles. It requires pressure to feed the ore, so it consumes a lot of power, but it occupies a small area, is cheap, has a large processing capacity, and has high classification efficiency.
It can obtain very fine overflow products, and is mostly used for classification in the second stage of closed-circuit grinding. Sometimes it is also used for mud dehydration, divided into pressure type and gravity type, often made of cylindrical structures or metal pipes.
The hydrocyclone is mainly composed of an overflow water tank, a sedimentation water tank, a cyclone, a support, a raw ore feed pipe, a raw ore pressure water tank, and an overflow water pipe.

Bailing hydrocyclone has a unique structure. It adopts a multi-section column composite structure, and the height of the column can be increased or decreased according to the needs. If the height increases, the overflow fineness will increase, which can reach about 10 μm; and each diameter has a unique cylinder. The combination of length and cone angle can achieve the maximum tangential velocity with the minimum length of the total cyclone, thereby increasing the centrifugal force of the material and improving the classification efficiency.
